Hi folks,
the year is coming to an end, so I would like to take the opportunity and look back on what has been a very successful 7 months for highresolutiontextures.com. Since going live in May, the site saw a steady increase in visitors and RSS subscribers. Already in June, the first stone texture pack was being featured on Smashing magazine, which of course is a great start for a young blog. Lots of features on various CSS galleries (see the list in the footer section) and other blogs followed and as a result, the search engine rankings for relevant keywords improved a lot.

It is about time that I present some new hi-res textures on here, as posting frequency has decreased dramatically over the last few weeks. My apologies for that. One of the reasons is that I am currently working hard on a redesign of this site in order to add more features and enhance overall usability. Most of the recommendations made by the readers during the book contest will find their way into the new version, so stay tuned.
But today, I am offering you a nice texture pack, which includes 6 colorful images of my personal record collection. Being a DJ and vinyljunkie for years, I wonder, why it took me so long to come up with that idea. Anyways, I hope you enjoy these pictures and find them useful. As always, you can either download the single images or all of them in a zip file at the end of the post.

Recently, I was browsing through Deviantart in search for some nice texture brushes. Some of these artists have really done a fantastic job by putting out great brush sets. Afterwards, I thought that you guys might be interested in these brush sets as well and that is how I came up with this list of 200+ texture brushes. I hope you find them useful for your designs. Enjoy!

A while ago, I started a flickr group for highresolutiontextures.com, where the readers can post their own texture images. The group already has 58 members and a few of those member submitted some great texture photos. From time to time, I want to showcase the best submissions of this group and this post is the start of that series.

At the beginning of october, I moved into a new house with my girlfriend and as we made quite some renovations, I wanted to document those with a special texture pack. This pack includes high resolution images of carpet, tiles, wood and wallpaper. Enjoy!

From all the improvement suggestions that you guys made during the last contest, having more tutorials here on highresolutiontextures.com was the most popular one. Therefore, I went through my bookmarks and came up with a small selection of Photoshop tutorials, which focus on creating seamless textures. These are particularly useful, when you want to use repeating background images on websites.
Without further ado, here is the list of tutorials:
tutorial 1 at photoshoptextures.com
tutorial 2 at freeseamlesstextures.com
tutorial 3 at biorust.com
tutorial 4 at cadtutor.net
tutorial 5 at brushes.obsidiandawn.com
I hope you find these tutorials useful!

Hi folks,
today october 15th, 2008, is Blog Action Day and a few months ago, I decided to register highresolutiontextures.com in order to make a small contribution to this great event. The initial idea was to create a huge texture pack and ask my readership to donate a small amount of money for it, which in turn would be used for one of the charity organizations featured at the Blog Action Day website.
However, due to the fact that the last 2 weeks have been totally hectic with renovations and moving, I had to make a change of plans. Therefore, I will donate all my earnings of the month october to Kiva.org and just like Jacob Cass of justcreativedesign.com, I will add 10 cents on top of that for every comment that you guys leave on this post.
Let’s see, what we can come up with. Every comment, which is made until the 31st of october, counts. Many thanks in advance for your support!
I just wanted to make a quick announcement that I will not be around for 1,5 weeks and therefore will not be able to post any new content. I bought a house together with my girlfriend and the next 2 weeks we will renovate our new home.
In the meantime, you can have a look at the newly installed Flickr pool, where the first members already posted some great images.
After the break, I will provide you with some kick-ass texture tutorials - promised!
